Faribault became the most recent city to be proclaimed as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon city on Friday, June 1, in a ceremony at Shattuck-St. Mary’s.  The crowd heard from U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken — who took the time to thank local World War II pilot Betty “Liz” Strohfus for “saving the world” — Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, Gen. Craig McKinley (a S-SM graduate) and Minnesota’s Major General Richard Nash, The Adjutant General, also spoke of how this program shows our community support and eases the burden for our local military families.
