Faribault will host Minnesota in May, a state championship BBQ competition on May 18 & 19 at the Rice County Fairgrounds. The competition will be operated by the Minnesota BBQ Society and will be sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. The event will be open to the public and the Historic Hutchinson House B&B is offering special rates for this exciting weekend! Stay two-nights and receive one night 1/2 price! Or, receive a special one-time rate of $109/night!
The following events will be held in addition to the competition:
• Beer garden and food vendors will be available.
• Live entertainment, including Pork Chop, One More Time and Jivin’ Ivan & the Kings of Swing.
• Classic Car Show hosted by the Faribault DRAG ONs.
BBQ competitions have been growing in popularity over the past few years. BBQ teams compete in four categories: Brisket, ribs, chicken and pork shoulder. Spectators can walk throughout the grounds and can stop to speak with BBQ teams about the equipment and process they use to cook award-winning BBQ. Proceeds generated by this competition will benefit Infants Remembered in Silence (IRIS) and the Faribault DRAG ONs.
