The Faribault Woolen Mill is scheduled to reopen this weekend. The mill dates back to The Civil War and was closed after collapsing into foreclosure two summers ago. Chuck Mooty, former president and CEO of International Dairy Queen and his cousin Paul Mooty, both from the Twin Cities, have saved from extinction the country’s last mill turning raw wool into finished blankets. “At a time of great economic recession or high unemployment, however you want to term it; we’re at a point where we need to figure out how we’re going to create jobs here,” said Chuck Mooty. On Thursday, September 15th, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton will travel to Faribault for a reopening ceremony for the woolen mill. The public is invited to help clear out existing inventory during a tent sale in the Mills parking lot September 16 & 17 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We invite you to stay at the Historic Hutchinson House B&B this weekend and join in on the making of history. Call for a reservation today 507-384-3291.
